Office of Crime Prevention Statistics
The Office of Crime Prevention’s programs and initiatives are proving successful in reducing crime and have achieved significant results.
- Since its implementation in 2003, the Burglar Beware program has seen burglary rates decline at one of the fastest rates in Australia.
- Over 4500 pieces of information have been received by police and in the last 18 months, more than 200 arrests were made as a direct result of Eyes on the Street intelligence.
- The Northbridge Policy is credited with a 35 per cent drop in the number of unsupervised juveniles roaming around Northbridge and a significant fall in antisocial behaviour in its first three years of operation.
- In 2008, over 5000 Leavers wristbands were sold to some 6000 students headed to the South West, and approximately 1400 wristbands for Rottnest Leavers celebrations were sold.
