Graffiti Taskforce
In December 2008 the State Government approved the establishment of an across-government Graffiti Taskforce. This Taskforce, chaired by Office of Crime Prevention Director Wendy Murray, reports to the Minister for Police and will oversee the implementation of a four-year action plan currently being developed.
The Taskforce will tackle graffiti from every angle – prevention, education, removal, community engagement and sanctions.
- ensure graffiti vandals are involved in cleaning up the damage they have caused;
- expand the range and scope of clean-up activity and ensuring hotspot funding is well targeted;
- provide annual forums to drive expansion and expertise; and
- increase the range of stakeholders involved in cleanup.
The Graffiti Taskforce manages the Goodbye Graffiti program. This graffiti information and reporting service is based around a comprehensive website and phone hotline, both of which are designed to assist communities and public authorities in managing graffiti vandalism.
