Due to their public locations and the absence of staff after dark, businesses can be a popular target for crime, particularly burglary and graffiti.
To help protect your business from crime, consider the following tips:
- install sensor lights, security alarms and CCTV cameras. These can be a deterrent for criminals who don’t wish to attract attention;
- train staff to note down descriptions of suspicious people or activity and fix height markers on exit doors so that staff can more easily describe intruders to the police;
- keep trees and shrubs trimmed so there are no hiding places for criminals; and,
- reduce cash held on the premises to a workable minimum and advertise this prominently.
